FAQ

"Isn't that just bisexual / bi" Bisexual is by definition not a single label but an umbrella term , which means " liking more than 1 gender ". Under the bisexual umbrella, we have pan , omni , ply . Let's see what does each one of these mean. Pan indicates a person who experiences attraction for more than 1 gender and for a number of genders not specified , without any preference. A pan person could feel attraction for anyone , without any limit, but this doesn't mean that it has to be always all genders. Omni , on the other hand , means a person who likes more than 1 gender with a very strong preference. That's why many omni people may identify as omni-lesbian/gay. So , bisexual isn't a singular label, but an umbrella term which could have other sexualities under its spectrum , including gaybian. Some people just prefer specific labels other than just saying "yes im bi because i like more than 1 gender". Also, gaybian enlightens how their attraction is both lesbian and gay, which might be very important for most gaybians.

"But if someone is lesbian then they can't be gay, because.. bla bla bla..." We should stop having labels so strict. Lesbian and gay are not black and white , they're not opposite. This is thinking in a binary way , just like we used to do with men and womxn = now , we know that womxn and man aren't opposites but two labels one could easily fall between. Same goes for gay and lesbian , and even more when one is pangender , genderfluid , demigirl and demiboy or agender / non-binary.
